Playing pool is a lifestyle for Sergeant Joseph
Joseph will be representing Mpumalanga in Cape Town, and he says the most important thing is to represent Mpumalanga with pride.

Besides being a policeman and serving the people, Sergeant Joseph Kgomo is also a very skilled pool player.
‘Playing pool is a childhood hobby which I had a strong interest in and has progressed. Playing pool is a lifestyle to me, I’ve been playing since I was nine years old,” he said.
It didn’t just end as a hobby because he saw a gap and in the way sport is growing, he decided to open a club called the Kwandebele Cue Masters to be able to identify new talent all over Mpumalanga. He himself has previously played for other clubs in Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
“The club is one of the newly registered clubs playing the league this year, and we’ve already gotten a good response from players who are eager to play pool and grow every day,” he said.
He went on to share his plans, “I would like to see more ladies and youth playing pool as the sport is dominated by males, while I believe more females can do better, they have potential. My mentor is a female girl from an Amusement Centre”.
He believes that in the future, Mpumalanga will produce champions who go on to represent their country around the world.

“I want to beat the best and be one of the top performers. I want to take my game to the next level and put Mpumalanga on the map; it’s now or never because many people are looking up to me and I want to make them proud and myself,” Joseph concluded.
