DA hands over items to be recycled by disabled centre in Jackaroo Park

On June 8 members of the Democratic Alliance gathered in Jackaroo Park, Ward 20 at the Highveld Association for the Physically Disabled to donate recycled items that they had gathered respectively from different areas of the city.

“By doing this the DA hopes to put this material to good use, thereby preventing these materials from finding the way to pollute the environment,” said Mr Clive Hatch, constituency chair of eMalahleni.
Maureen Scheepers, the Councillor for Ward 20, who organised the event, commented that the association plays an important role for one of the most marginalised sectors of the community and deserves the full support of the community.
“I would like to challenge the residents of Ward 20 and eMalahleni alike to start gathering all recyclable items in their areas and to donate them to this Home, by doing that you clean the area and your support and assist this Home to continue doing the great work that is taking place there,” said Scheepers.
The Highveld Association for Physically Disabled houses eight permanent disabled people and 21 day visitors on the same premises.
The manager of the home, Mrs Grietjie Naudé was overjoyed by the donation.

“I would like to thank Clr Maureen Scheepers and the Democratic Alliance for this good deed to help this association to keep our environment clean and also to keep up the good standards of service rendering to the persons with disabilities of eMalahleni.
