Be careful – robbers might be watching you at ATM

A man who withdrew money from an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) was robbed shortly afterwards.

A man who withdrew money from an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) was robbed shortly afterwards.

He was approached by a man who allegedly pointed him with a firearm as he was about to get into his motor vehicle.

It is believed that the suspect was accompanied by three other males and that they demanded money from the victim.

The victim tried to fight back, but the suspects got away with an amount of his money.

One of the suspects has been arrested.

The South African Police Service provides the following tips for carrying cash safely: Carry as little cash as possible, and make use of alternative banking methods such as internet banking and cellphone banking.

The community is warned that robbers may act in groups and appear to be getting comfortable with their firearms.
