Walking is good exercise, both mentally and physically says retirees from Lynnville

Retirees show they still have the moves.

The Greater Emalahleni Association for Retired Professionals (GEARP) has celebrated the August month in style.

On Tuesday, August 9 they took to the street as part of the community; they would not sit back and watch others celebrating the women’s month in their own style. They believe age is just a number and everything else is a mindset.

The vibrant oldies of the association braced the chilly morning to walk from Costas Filling Station all the way to Bules Palace at Ninja in Lynnville in less than one hour and fifty five minutes.

According to the organisers of the walk it was all excitement in seeing the huffing and puffing of members, singing and exchanging greetings to motorists.

“This was culminated with a short address and thanking by the chairperson, Mr Andrew Mabena who encouraged the members to keep walking in their daily lives to wart off any possible chronics and to better themselves for next years’ performance. His theme for the days’ event was engraved in his quote borrowed from Neil Armstrong, ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’. What an excitement enveloped in intended achievement to reach the destination,” said Mabena.

Mabena added to say that they are growing the organisation and embracing all retired professionals who are on pension.
