Did you sign up for the self-defence workshop this coming Saturday?
Self-defence is a combination of several factors that comes together to give you a fighting chance. Come and learn from an expert on how to defend yourself.
Kisha Padayachee is not a woman you want to mess with. When she puts her mind to something there is no stopping her.
Kisha was recently nominated as one of 12 semi-finalists for Provincial Mpumalanga MS.
Kisha will be hosting a self-defence workshop which will be aimed at enabling and educating women on how to survive and escape without injury by deterring or stopping aggressive behaviour, improving street awareness, building self-esteem, and developing a fighter’s reflex.
“This is also largely applicable to Gender-Based Violence.
Self-defence is highly crucial in dangerous and intimidating situations; it gives the victim confidence and knowledge to back his or herself up in unfavourable scenarios and the freedom to enable themselves against mental, emotional, and physical challenges,” she said.
Self-defence assists women in levelling the playing field against an attacker who may happen to be larger than they are.
Kisha was born and bred in eMalahleni, went to Robert Carruthers Primary School, St Thomas Aquinas High School, and further graduated at the University of Pretoria with an honours degree in Internal Audit.
“I work with superheroes,” she laughed and said she works at
Langamed Emergency Management performing finance and contractual functions.
“It is here that I have learned the importance of human life. It is fast-paced, rewarding and eventful.”
Kisha was nominated to enter the pageant and decided to go for it as, “I felt that it is a great platform for self-development, adventure, community awareness and engagement and to challenge myself.”
She said through this journey she hopes to inspire people to never give up, to be brave, and to stand strong.
When asked what characteristics you believe
Provincial Mpumalanga MS should have, she answered, “I believe that Provincial Mpumalanga MS should have several characteristics interwoven, to highlight a few, God-fearing, compassionate, strong, beautiful, resilient, mindful, ambitious, positive, humble and dynamic. She should have a captivating personality and always reflect the truest version of herself.”
True to her character Kisha said all charity organisations do wonderful work and it almost feels unfair to pick, as they all need assistance. She has an extreme passion and empathy for children, so she will be targeting institutions like New Life Children’s Home and Highveld House.
“I envision raising awareness to these homes by organising a charity event to assist our little ones and their heaven-sent caretakers.”
The self-defence workshop is taking place on October 1 at 10:30 at Planet Fitness.
It will be presented by Glenn Mortelmans an international Krav Maga expert.
Krav Maga is a pure and realistic self-defence system designed for everyday situations and everyone can benefit from this.
All proceeds from this workshop will be handed towards Highveld House, Michelle Mortelmans Care Fund, and the Mrs Mpumalanga Foundation.
