Primary school girl’s cricket draws to a close for now

Integrating cricket as a sport in Primary Schools especially for girls was Cricket SA’s main objective.

In the past three weeks, different schools in Mpumalanga took to the greens for friendly cricket matches.

What makes these games unique is that not only was it hosted by primary schools in conjunction with Cricket SA, but also that all the teams are girls orientated, which makes it a first for women’s competitive cricket.

In one of the final matches, the students from Laerskool Klipfontein and Curro Witbank swung the bats against each other to test their skills. On a nice cloudy, cool day, Curro won the match with six wickets.

The match took place at Klipfontein on November 2.

Keep an eye on WITBANK NEWS for the next rounds of games that are yet to be confirmed.
