New transformer is safely in KwaGuqa New Extension Substation

Preparations are underway for the transformer at KwaGuqa New Extension.

Emalahleni Local Municipality confirmed the  132kV Transformer for KwaGuqa Substation has arrived.

The executive mayor, Clr Conny Nkalitshana addressed KwaGuqa residents around 22:00 last night.

Community members who have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime can go to bed tonight with hope.

In her address, the mayor advised residents to ensure the new transformer is protected at all costs.

“The previous two transformers are currently being repaired. The one transformer will still take 16 weeks to repair. The first one sent for repairs will take an estimate of four to six weeks to repair.”

Clr Nkalitshana further outlined that once both transformers are fully operational, they will join the new one to increase the power supply.

She thanked residents for their patience and said her door is once again always open for members of the community.

“I was born and raised here. I want to see our Emalahleni prosper just as much as the next person resident of this town,” Clr Nkalitshana expressed.
