TUT eMalahleni Campus stands firm in the face of GBV

The GBV pandemic must be defeated.

As the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) approach, the Directorate of Sports and Recreation, eMalahleni Campus and Ladies Soccer expresses their support for the initiative, which begins on November 25 and runs until December 10.

The daily battle against GBV in South Africa must be won, as TUT took a stand on Monday, November 14 by launching a red-carpet campaign for GBV awareness.

The ‘red card’ for the GBV campaign aims to raise awareness about GBV and its effects on society.

Every small step is taken to combat these pandemic counts.

Ernest Fakude, a senior sports organizer at the TUT eMalahleni campus, said the launch was exciting, and the students learned a lot from the speakers, particularly the Witbank SAPS.

Fakude added that it was great to also see the men’s soccer and rugby teams as part of the launch of the ‘red card’ for the GBV awareness campaign to support fellow students.

He concluded by stating that next year the GBV awareness campaign will be spread to the community of eMalahleni and includes drug and substance abuse awareness in partnership with the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca).
