Members belonging to the Denosa Union are picketing at Witbank Hospital this morning to show their disappointment because of the 3% increase offered by the government.

WITBANK NEWS reached out to a union leader on the scene this morning, and he informed the group intends no violence and to proceed peacefully.

 The group is currently proceeding with picketing on the grounds of Witbank Hospital, and the roads near the hospital are open for road users with no congestion.

The union representative said they will later make their way to Lynnville to assemble with other unions, and then march to the Piet Koornhof building to hand over a memorandum.

 “After we hand over the memorandum, we will give seven days for a response. If we don’t receive a response, we will plan a total shutdown of hospitals and clinics to put pressure on government health departments,” the leader said.

 He informed that two hospital officials spoke with him and said nurses are allowed to assist the patients in the ward and that the picketing may continue peacefully.
