Spider-Man swings into Christmas and karate action at NWSK Witbank dojo

The hero-action commenced at 18:00 with karatekas dressed up as their favourite superheroes, and eMalahleni’s Spider-Man made a surprise visit.

The New World Shotokan Karate Witbank dojo closed the dojo doors for the rest of the year with great and fun superhero action on December 8.

The theme of the class was to dress as your favourite superhero from the DC or Marvel universes while playing hero-themed games with a karate twist.

While the heroes protected a civilian in one of their fun-packed games, they had no idea there was a surprise cosplaying guest sneaking in with the Sensei: Spider-Man.

For those who don’t know, cosplay is an activity whereby people dress up as a character from a video game, comic book, film or book.

The students were surprised to see Spider-Man at the dojo and had great fun with their fellow superhero fans.

The evening was a web-slinging and comic book punching success with big smiles and surprises and ended with a personalised gift for each student ‒ a cup with their favourite superhero on it.

The dojo wishes everyone a merry and safe festive season and would like to end the year with the famously known words in the Spider-Man universe: “With great power comes great responsibility.”
