Middelburg Flying Squad nabs 10 suspects in just two days

Operation Shanela is in full swing in and around eMalahleni.

Middelburg Flying Squad has been very busy on the two highways running through eMalahleni.

In just two days they nabbed 10 suspects.

In the latest incident, two suspects were arrested and appeared before Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, November 1 after being reportedly found in possession of three unlicensed firearms with ammunition on the N12 freeway next to Phola.

In the first incident, eight suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen copper cables.

They appeared before Middelburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

This forms part of the unit’s Operation Shanela.

“The police will continue to be on high alert and through Operation Shanela, more successes are achieved and the aim is to reinforce the authority of the state, thereby ensuring that everyone is safe ahead, during and beyond the festive season,” said provincial spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli.
