Boxing personalities take boxing to another level

Thabethe and Judas will work hand in hand with the Emalahleni Boxing Promotion which is a wing of Emalahleni Boxing Club.

Several former boxers and people interested in boxing have teamed up together to revive boxing in eMalahleni.

Judas Ngobeni brother to Lawrence Ngobeni and a former boxer himself who used to fight as a lightweight will be teaming with other former boxers.

Sipho Mashego who is the ring announcer of the year for 2023 is one of the people and Peter Thabethe intends to apply for a promoter’s licence next year (2024).

Judas will also apply for a matchmaker licence next year as well. Thabethe and Judas will work hand in hand with the Emalahleni Boxing Promotion which is a wing of Emalahleni Boxing Club.

Meanwhile, eMalahleni-based boxer, Sipho Msiza fighting under Emalahleni Boxing Club was one of the fighters in the Ilanga Boxing Promotions tournament held at Middelburg Banquet Hall on Friday, December 15.

He had his fight cancelled.

Msiza making his professional debut was supposed to fight Shawn Lottering but Lottering did not make it into the weigh-in.

Msiza is a bantamweight (53.5kg) fighter and was disappointed about the failure of his opponent.

He has 20 fights as an amateur, winning 15, with three losses and two draws and this was his first professional fight.

After all his preparation for the fight working hard and focusing on his jabs, movement and target boxing he felt the letdown.

His trainers are former boxers Lawrence Ngobeni and Jerry Ngobeni.
