Neighbourhood Watch responders surprised councillor by taking care of a fallen tree blocking a road themselves

'I urge everyone from the Blancheville area to join this neighbourhood watch and be a part of a team that is making a difference within the community'.

A fallen tree on Alberts Street in Blancheville brought traffic to a halt as the tree blocked the road.

“I originally went to visit the site to check if the reported fallen tree had been attended to when I surprisingly found the Blancheville Neighbourhood Watch responders on site preparing to cut the tree and open the road again,” said Ward 20 Councillor Maureen Scheepers.

She furthermore said that it’s wonderful to have caring, hard-working volunteers within the ward.

“This really makes a difference in Ward 20!”

No job is too big or too small for the friendly neighbourhood watch team.

Scheepers thanked the chairperson Riaan van Wyk and the team that assisted in opening the road again for public use.

“I urge everyone from the Blancheville area to join this neighbourhood watch and be a part of a team that is making a difference within the community, with not only combating crime in the area but also helping on the ground in the area,” Scheepers concluded.
