Two get three years for housebreaking

The two thieves were caught with the stolen property in their possession.

Thulani Lastborn Mahlangu (38) and Thembiso Given Sgudla (32) were found guilty and sentenced for housebreaking and stealing.

This follows their court appearance on Monday, February 5, at Ga-Nala District Court.

The conviction came after the two accused were caught by the police for housebreaking and stealing last month after it was reported that they committed the crimes in Ga-Nala.

The court heard that they were searched and discovered to be in possession of stolen property and arrested.

Kriel Police spokesperson, Constable Angel Makubu, said, “The diligent investigation led to the recovery of stolen property in the possession of the accused. Subsequently, on Monday, the court sentenced both Mahlangu and Sgudla to three years of direct imprisonment. In addition, they were deemed unfit to possess a firearm.”
