Two accused receive 15-year sentence for business robbery and escape

The Ga-Nala Regional Court announces a decisive conviction in a business robbery case.

Njabulo Nelson Khoza (39) and Sipho Abiam Maseko (44) were handed a 15-year direct imprisonment sentence by Ga-Nala Regional Court last month.

The conviction stems from their involvement in a business robbery and escape from lawful custody.

According to reports, police apprehended the duo after receiving information about their alleged business robbery in Kriel in April 2021.

Upon arrest, the suspects were found in possession of stolen equipment, including a TLB machine with registration number HFY 746 MP.

One of the accused managed to escape from lawful custody on April 7, 2021, only to be tracked down and re-arrested by the police on April 27, 2021.

Kriel Police spokesperson, Constable Angel Makubu, said “Investigation was finalised, and the two accused were sentenced on January 26 as follows: Both were sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment, and they were declared unfit to possess a firearm.”
