Get ready for another week without water

The specific leaking pipe was reported to the municipality since December.

The main raw water line between Witbank Dam to Point B is leaking.

The municipality is planning to fix it in the next few days and that means that the whole of eMalahleni will be without water.

The municipality did not indicate when they are planning the maintenance, but they did mention that this means that no pumping can be done for approximately two days.

Mr Lebo Mofokeng, municipal spokesperson put a timeframe to the water interruptions when he said due to the vulnerability and brittle nature of the water system the recovery period normally takes long due to the high demand versus the limited supply and this can result in a turnaround time of a week to get the system fully charged.

“This will have a huge negative impact on water supply to all consumers around the city, hence the need for careful planning to implement the works,” said  Mofokeng.

WITBANK NEWS will keep their readers updated on the progress of the planned maintenance and as the maintenance progresses regular updates will be given.
