Vosman police swiftly recovery hijacked vehicle

Vosman police recover stolen vehicle shortly after hijacking

Swift action from the Vosman SAPS Crime Prevention unit led to the swift recovery of a vehicle that was hijacked from its owner at gunpoint in Hlalanikahle.

The owner of the vehicle arrived home after work on Wednesday, March 20, in his Toyota GD6 bakkie. As he opened the gate, he was hijacked.

Police quickly shared the information with their colleagues, who responded swiftly. The vehicle was found abandoned in the bushes at Kromdraai.

According to the police the vehicle had possibly been left there so that the suspects could scope the situation and allow time for the search to cool off before returning to the vehicle.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, commended the all members of the police involved in the swift recovery of the vehicle and their effective, quick response to this incident which led to the vehicle being recovered before it could be taken further away and possibly never recovered.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela said, “We vow to work tirelessly in dealing with carjackings and theft of motor vehicles. There is a need to collaborate with the community members as well as other law enforcement agencies with a sole purpose of responding promptly to safety and security objectives enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.”
