Dumisani’s hands were found
Dumisani Mahlangu's hacked off hands were found in bushes close to the crime scene.
The attempted murder case of Dumisani Mahlangu, whose hands were savagely chopped off with a panga is well underway.
Detectives from Vosman, the K9 Unit, Criminal Record Centre as well as the Investigative Psychology Unit searched the scene of the crime and found the hands discarded in the bushes close to where they were brutally hacked from his body on Wednesday, March 20.
At the scene on Monday, March 25, detectives found the ropes that were used to bind the victim, as well as the piece of wood that was used as a backboard for the inhumane act of hacking his arms off.
Dumisani who is recovering in hospital, positively identified the hands from his hospital bed and they have been taken into evidence, as well as the other items seized during the search of the crime scene.
Dumisani (30) was allegedly kidnapped and brutalised by six men, who overpowered him at gunpoint, tied him up, and later mutilated him.
It is alleged that the men who committed this heinous crime accused Dumisani of stealing a battery.
“This latest development will form part of the broader investigation,” said Colonel Donald Mdhluli, provincial police spokesperson.
The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela would like to reassure the community that they will not rest until the suspects have been arrested and charged for this atrocious and horrific crime.
Anyone who has information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects should call Detective Lieutenant Colonel Muntu Mbatha 082 600 8537.
