Man suspected of murder found on local school’s roof
Suspect hides on roof from angry community members after allegedly committing murder.
A murder suspect had to be coaxed off of the roof of a school in Ackerville, after he hid up there to avoid mob justice from the community. The suspect allegedly fatally stabbed a 25-year old man and took refuge on the roof of the school after community members came after him.
On Wednesday, April 10 just after 18:00, SAPS who were patrolling received information regarding a fatal stabbing. When SAPS arrived at the scene, the suspect was hiding on a roof, apparently in fear of his life from angry community members. The suspect eventually came down off of the roof and was arrested for further questioning.
The 22-year-old suspect will appear in court once due process into the investigation is complete.
“I commend the swift arrest of the suspect,” said provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela.
