Child Welfare SA honours mothers on Mother’s Day
Child Welfare South Africa honors women and empowers the community on Mother’s Day

In celebration of Mother’s Day on May 12, Child Welfare SA eMalahleni hosted a special event to honor and empower women from various backgrounds.
The event sought to introduce services to the greater eMalahleni community while also empowering women with information on healthy living, beauty, and mental health while raising much-needed funds.
“The ladies up their game! A designated photographer had his hands full,” said Mrs Lerato Bam, the board secretary.
The event’s theme was ‘classy vintage with beautiful hats’, and it drew women from all walks of life, including mothers, caregivers, and community leaders.
The event featured inspiring speakers, engaging workshops, and networking opportunities, all meant to empower and assist women in their personal and professional paths.
Itumeleng Holworthy did a sterling job as MC by introducing the people who contributed to making this event a success, including Lerato, who introduced the services offered by Child Welfare to the audience, Ms Jay Mkhwanazi, who was all about maintaining beauty and placed a great emphasis on hydration, eating well, and exercise, and Dr Zama Nxumalo, who gave a holistic approach to maintaining life balance.
“Aspects of our being influence others, thus we need to be healthy both physically, emotionally, and mentally,” said Dr Zama.
Mrs Zanele Ndlangamandla shed a few tears as she described how she and her family were able to adopt and maintain a darling son with the support of Child Welfare.
The event was a huge success as Child Welfare South Africa reaffirmed its commitment to assisting disadvantaged children and families, emphasising the crucial role that women play in building stronger, more resilient communities.
“Thanks to the efforts of our board member, Mrs Lindiwe Mtsweni, and our office manager, Ms Momotho Motau. The sweet and savory snacks filled up the table and The Ridge not only donated the refreshments but also secured the services of a décor company and offered sound IT services for free. The room was simply stunning. Lastly, our own staff baked tasty cupcakes and scones – we needed to curb spending as much as we could but still deliver a classy function,” said Lerato.
She feels that by the end of the proceedings, most individuals had comprehended and appreciated the organisation’s work as well as the necessity of community participation.
