Search for missing woman stopped due to bad light

The search was called off, because of poor light and the danger of sinkholes.

The search for the woman believed to be drugged, raped, and dumped in Jackaroo Park has stopped.

Drones were used, and people searched the area on foot after a woman emerged from the veldt opposite Clearwater Gate 1. She was traumatised and said her sister was missing.

“The woman said they were hitchhiking, picked up, drugged, and raped before they were dumped in the veldt,” Clr Maureen Scheepers said.

Scheepers took the woman to Witbank Hospital for medical assistance.

The decision to call off the search was made because of the dangerous terrain.

It was also becoming dark and the potential of someone falling into a sinkhole, which the area is known for, cannot be ruled out.

Police are still investigating the matter.
