Emalahleni Municipality takes top honours in road safety competition
Congratulations to Emalahleni Municipality and the selected learners, for a victorious regional road safety competition
In a thrilling competition, Emalahleni Municipality emerged victorious in the regional road safety competition held in Delmas.
On Saturday, June 15, the Department of Community Safety and Liaison organised this event to empower young people to become road safety ambassadors and promote a culture of safety on our roads.
The community was fierce, with five municipalities from the Nkangala region vying for the top spot.
But eMalahleni’s team showed exceptional prowess, securing their impressive display of road safety knowledge and innovative ideas.
Mr Isaac Kuseka, a seasoned mentor from HTS is now chosen to guide the Nkangala team, comprising Akona Ngonzi, Sithembiso Tomo, and Lerato Bosiu, as they prepare to take on the best from other districts.
“The competition went well, and we hope that even in August, it will be successful,” said Isaac.
The stakes are high, with the best three learners from the province qualifying for the national tournament.
The provincial competition, which takes place on August 24, will pit the best teams from Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande, Bohlabela, and Nkangala districts against one another.
The tension is evident, and excitement is growing.
The initiative is critical for raising road safety awareness among young people, who are especially prone to accidents. By providing them with knowledge and skills, we can help design a safer future for our communities.
Congratulations to Emalahleni Municipality and the selected learners, and best wishes in the provincial competition.
