Suspects accused of kidnapping in Ga-Nala back in court

The suspects are set to appear before the Kriel Magistrate’s Court on August 21.

The seven suspects accused of kidnapping a minor in Ga-Nala are set to remain behind bars.

The accused appeared before the Kriel Magistrate’s Court for their formal bail application yesterday (August 14).

According to the Mpumalanga HAWKS spokesperson, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, four of the accused’s legal representatives abandoned the bail application.

“Sibongokuhle Nelisiwe Mkhwanazi (21), Nkosingiphile Emelda Nkosi (42) and Mpumelelo Patricia Mkhize(42) stood for bail application. Caleb Kamahelo Sebatane (23), Thabang Elim Mndebele (35), Dineo Masesi Zondo (41), and 33-year-old Dumisane Zondo’s representative abandoned the bail application. They were remanded in custody while the three accused continued with their bail application,” Sekgotodi said.

Their bail was denied.

The suspects are accused of kidnapping a teenage girl outside a high school in Ga-Nala on Monday, July 22.

All seven suspects were remanded in custody.
