Bakkie and truck collide on the R545 T-junction in Ga-Nala
R547, R545, R544 needs immediate intervention.

The state of provincial roads in Ga-Nala continues to be a leading cause of motor vehicle accidents in the area.
This comes after three more accidents were reported on the R545 and the R544 at the end of May.
According to Percival Motloung from Percival Emergency Medical Services (Pems), the accident reported on May 25 on the R545 T-junction towards Ga-Nala was between a Toyota bakkie and a truck.
“According to the eyewitnesses, the truck driver did not stop at the three-way stop. Injuries on the scene are minor and moderate, both passengers and the driver of the bakkie were transported to Witbank Hospital,” Motloung informed.

He also outlined that the driver of the bakkie shared that the mist was very thick, “the driver of the bakkie said that he stopped and observed before turning, only to find out that the truck driver didn’t stop,” said Motloung.
He also mentioned that a pedestrian was also run over on the R545 Bethal direction next to the mine.

“The driver of a Ford Fiesta ran over a man in his forties and fled the scene,” said Motloung.

He said all the patients were transported to Witbank Provincial Hospital.
Just a few days prior, another motor vehicle accident was reported on the R544 near Mpilo Primary School.
Motloung said that on Saturday, May 18 the accident involved a Toyota Quantum and Volkswagen Polo, “there were minor injuries on scene and the patients were transported by Bophelo Emergency Medical Services to Witbank Provincial Hospital.”
Motloung ended by pleading with the community and motorists to adhere to the rules of the road, to keep a safe following distance, “To observe before crossing an intersection. The drivers must be vigilant at all times as the state of the provincial roads is in a dire state of deterioration and with the mist in winter, it is especially dangerous to be travelling on the roads” ended Motloung.
