Another newborn baby was found in Ackerville, only this time the baby had unfortunately died.
According to reports, the baby was found by a member of the community on Tuesday, October 22.
“It all happened when a man, who was hoarding scrap metal and tins to recycle them and make a living, spotted a baby wrapped in dirty plastic bags at a dumping site near Mpondozankomo T-VET College,” Vosman Police Station communications liaison, Captain Elizabeth Hlathi explained.
She further outlined that the man sounded an alarm, and the community assembled at the scene.
Hlathi confirmed that the police are investigating the concealment of birth.
“Police were called to investigate the matter. However, it is currently unknown who the mother is. Hence, a call is made to anyone who might have information about the incident to contact the Detective Branch Commander of Vosman Police, Colonel Hellen Masombuka at 082 303 9938,” Hlathi ended.
