HGH rewards their finest

Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog recently celebrated the achievements of its learners at their annual merit function. The event honoured learners for their academic, cultural, and sporting excellence.

Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog hosted their merit functions earlier this month.

On October 14, the grade 12s were honoured for their hard work, and the grade eight to 11s received their awards on October 15.

• Special awards in the grade eight to 11 category went to:

Ubuhle Malinga (Senior Sportswoman of the Year), Monique Brits (Senior Culture Girl of the Year), Wicus Swanepoel (Senior Culture Boy of the Year), Kayla Ellis (Best Junior Sportswoman of the Year), Thabo Lethibelane (Junior Culture Boy of the Year), and Megan Brits (Junior Culture Girl of the Year).

Ubuhle Malinga receives the trophy for senior sportswoman of the year from Mr Lucas Beeken.

The following senior learners received general colours

Unathi Shabangu, Loui Radingoana, and Banele Ndlovu for hockey.

Lindelwa Mtsweni and Nobuhle Mnisi for netball.

Chuma Siga for choir and Wicus Swanepoel for archery.

 In the grade 12 category, the following students received awards

The top 10 learners for 2024:

Zenardi van Staden, Mandisa Thobeka Isabel Mahlangu, Malik Zuko Manafi, Refentse Kenneth Joko, Tshepisho Masingita Hlabane, Linzey Leiman, Dylan Fanucci, Jacolida Nothando Elizabeth Mnisi, Elizabeth Samukeliswe Makhabane and Nomfundo Phumzile Skhosana.

Special awards went to Boitumelo Makofane (Silent Warrior), Sonei Krugel (Jolet Olivier floating trophy for matriculant with the most perseverance), Linzey Leiman (Most Versatile Matriculant and Senior Culture Girl of the Year), Jo-Anne Breedt (exceptional leadership), Learn Ndlala (exceptional leadership) and Brandon Joubert (Best Senior Sportsman of the Year).
