Alleged drug dealer caught in possession of drugs worth a quarter million rand
According to police the foreign national was allegedly in possession of the drugs.
Operation Shanela yielded positive results as the Middelburg Flying Squad Unit arrested a man (49) for alleged possession of drugs worth R260 000.
According to the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi the man who is an alleged foreign national was arrested on the N4 between the Middelburg Toll Plaza and Nelson Mandela Drive off-ramp towards eMalahleni on Thursday, November 14.
“The Middelburg Flying Squad Unit was patrolling the area when a suspicious white Toyota Hilux Double cab bakkie with Johannesburg registration number plates was spotted.
The vehicle had one occupant, the driver, and the rear left tyre seemed to be flat,” Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi
The police stopped the car, searched it, and recovered 13 bags of dagga, weighing approximately 259kg with an estimated street value of R260 000.
“It was at that point when the suspect, a Lesotho national, was arrested and charged for possession of dagga as well as for dealing in dagga. He is expected to appear at Witbank Magistrate’s Court on November 18,” ended Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi.
