Mom dies in tragic N4 accident

Four children were rushed to hospital after the horrific accident earlier.

A mother was killed and her four children are in critical condition after a car wreck on the N4.

Thomas Malatji from Keamoso Towing said the mother died on the scene while paramedics tried in vain to save her life and extract the father from the wreck.

According to Charmaine and Ken McQueen, who were the second responders on the scene, they were driving to Benoni when they saw a BMW that looked like it had lost control and hit the embankment on the side of the highway.

A mother of four tragically lost her life in an accident on the N4.

“My husband and I are first aid trained and we could see people were trapped inside the vehicle,” McQueen said.

She further detailed that two children were flung out of the vehicle.

They phoned ER24 and flagged motorists in search of a first aid kit.

Another accident occured shortly afterwards whilst traffic was highly congested.

“It was a very difficult situation, the children had multiple fractures and head traumas and they were in a lot of pain,” McQueen cried.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and transported the four children to hospital.

A multi vehicle collision occured just after the Toll Plaza on the N4 due to congsted traffic.

Two more accidents were reported on the N4 whilst waiting in the congested traffic between six cars with victims sustaining injuries.
