Judy Scheepers who was in the accident in Mandela Street last night, has sustained severe injuries.

The 24-year-old is fighting for her life in Witbank Hospital.

She has brain bleeding, lung and abdominal hemorrhaging, a rib puncturing her left lung, a broken jawbone, shattered teeth, and multiple broken bones.

“Unable to breathe on her own, she is on a ventilator, with a chest tube draining the blood from her lungs. Doctors are keeping her sedated, hoping to stabilise her before they can assess the full extent of her injuries,” her friend Micheala Kruger said.

Scheepers and Jaco Greyling, a tow truck driver, were on their way to assist at another accident last night when they were involved in a devastating crash with a BMW.

Greyling sustained minor injuries.

“Judy is also the mother of two beautiful 4-year-old twin boys who are too young to understand why their mommy is not coming home right now. They need her, and we are doing everything we can to ensure she gets the care she needs to return to them,” Michaela said.

Treatment at a private hospital is estimated to exceed R250 000.

To help raise funds to transfer Scheepers to a private hospital, a BackaBuddy crowdfunding campaign was opened.

Scheepers’ family and friends are reaching out to the community to help the young mother.
