R1 Coronation murder case postponed

The suspect appeared in court again on January 30, and the case has been remanded to March 27.

A 20-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing another man at a local tavern in Coronation, Likazi, appeared before the Witbank Magistrate’s Court.

The man appeared in court again on January 30, and the case has been remanded to March 27.

He was granted bail in November last year, just days after he allegedly demanded R1 from the victim, leading to an argument and a physical fight.

He allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife.

According to police reports, after fleeing the scene, the suspect hid with friends, who later reported him to the police.

The community had threatened to take action against the suspect’s family if he was not arrested.

Witbank Police Spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall, urged the community to remain calm. And allow the law to take its course, as the community vowed that if he is not arrested, they will burn down his mother’s house.
