Smart meters only halted in Ward 21

Smart meters will still be installed in other wards municipality said.

The Emalahleni Local Municipality said the smart installations are not cancelled.

It was only stopped in Ward 21 because according to the municipality the ward raised technical issues.

The municipality said it is not true that the project is held at halt but it is only kept on abeyance for certain reasons raised by Ward 21 community.

“The team working at Ward 21 be assigned to the other wards whilst attending to technical issues raised by Ward 21 community,” Lebo Mofokeng, the municipal spokesperson said.

A meeting is scheduled for Friday morning between all affected wards, Conlog, National Treasury, and the municipality.
