Silence is not healing

In two cases reported at Witbank Pollice Station women alleged they were raped by men they trusted.

In a tragic and alarming incident, a woman seeking spiritual guidance from a self-proclaimed prophet allegedly became the victim of sexual assault.
According to the victim, on March 21, during a consultation, the man allegedly instructed her to remove her clothing under the guise of ritual.

He then allegedly forcibly pushed her onto a bed and raped her.

She told police that the man told her to bathe afterward.
In another case, a woman visited her boyfriend in Tasbet Park X1.

While they were sleeping, he suddenly accused her of cheating.
In a violent and shocking act, he allegedly forcefully removed her underwear and raped her.
She went to the police station the next day to report the incident.

However, under pressure and manipulation, she and the boyfriend agreed not to open a case.

He promised to pay for medical treatment but never did.

Instead, he allegedly continued to threaten her, deepening her trauma.

“Failing to report sexual abuse will make it harder for us to find evidence during medical evaluation meaning that the proof of the horrific act will be long gone,” said Captain Eddie Hall, spokesperson of the SAPS.
