Man arrested for endangering community through reckless use of firearm

A man who was spotted firing random shots has been arrested.

A man has been arrested and charged for handling a firearm under the influence of alcohol as he put the residents of eMalahleni at risk with random shots.

On April 14 at around 03:30, police officers on duty received a complaint involving a vehicle in Lukin Street in which an allegedly drunk and armed man was busy firing random shots at the sky.

When the police arrived at the scene, they stopped the vehicle in question and instructed everybody to get out.

As they complied with the instruction given, a firearm allegedly fell off the trousers of one of the passengers who was allegedly heavily drunk and could barely stand. He was arrested on the spot.

Captain Eddie Hall said, “The firearm was confiscated and the owner will be declared unfit to possess a firearm.”
