Pedestrians are 'soft' targets for criminals in eMalahleni.

Be on the lookout as walking is no longer safe either day or night in eMalahleni.
This comes after police reported incidents where two people fell prey to being robbed of their belongings at gunpoint.
According to police, a man alleged that on April 19 around 08:00 he was pointed with a firearm and suddenly hit by the firearm in his face in Klarinet.
The alleged robbers then took his phone and fled the scene.
The victim was left injured.
In the second incident, a victim was left exposed after four men robbed him of all his belongings.
The victim told the police that he was approached by four men on his way from work and one of them allegedly pointed him with a firearm.
On a sudden turn of events, the alleged robbers allegedly took his possessions, including the work uniform he had on.
The incident took place at Old Coronation.
Witbank Police spokesperson, Sergeant David Ratau shared the following safety hints for victims in situations like this, “Comply, remain calm and do not argue with crime perpetrators. Do not make sudden gestures. Avoid eye contact but try to remember how the perpetrator looks by identifying and remembering special features. Try to get away safely from the area as quickly as possible.”
He added, “Do not be a hero, your life is worth more than anything else.”
