Smart meter gobbling glitch – my smart meter is devouring all my units
More and more smart meter complaints are surfacing in eMalahleni. Residents say they are not getting any joy from the municipality
Mr Smith writes:
I am a concerned resident of the municipality regarding the smart prepaid system installed to supply electricity to my premises.
The system malfunctions when contact is broken between the keypad and the receiver in the electrical roadside kiosk.
When the batteries are changed or removed, and when contact is established, there is a minimum 50-unit loss on the system.
If you continue removing the batteries and breaking the contact a few times, it will deplete your units.
Ward Councillor Maureen Scheepers did report the complaint to Mr Tapelo, the person who is assisting with Conlog complaints.
There was a response that a visit would be conducted, but a month has passed without any response.
On Monday, June 2, I sent a follow-up request again and received a response that he would attend to the complaint and is still waiting for his visit.
I am very concerned if this system is behaving like this and needs to be addressed with a response.
