Gear up for the cold this weekend

eMalahleni brace yourself for the chilly weekend ahead

Residents of eMalahleni should brace for a crisp and chilly weekend as a powerful cold front, currently sweeping across the Western and Northern Cape pushes eastward into Mpumalanga by Friday, June 27.

While the most severe impacts – such as heavy rainfall, flooding, and gale-force winds – are expected to affect coastal provinces, the interior regions, including eMalahleni, will not be spared from the cold. According to forecasts, daytime temperatures in eMalahleni are expected to drop to around 17–18°C, with overnight lows dipping to a frosty 3–4°C.

The South African Weather Service warns that strong interior winds may accompany the cold spell, particularly on Thursday and Friday, potentially making conditions feel even colder.

Although no significant rainfall is forecast for eMalahleni, residents are advised to dress warmly, take care on the roads, and ensure pets and vulnerable individuals are protected from the cold.
