Emalahleni schools claim top honours at National Choral Eisteddfod

Two eMalahleni high school choirs strike the perfect note at national choral competition

Two high school choirs from eMalahleni have achieved national recognition after winning top awards at the 2025 ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod. The event took place at the Rhema Bible Church in Gauteng and featured some of the country’s most talented school choirs.

This year’s Eisteddfod, themed ‘The Year of Champs’, showcased a high level of musical talent and dedication, with Mpumalanga schools outperforming many of their past achievements.

DM Motsaosele Secondary School secured first place in the Mixed Choirs (Western) category, while Witbank High School triumphed in the Mixed Choirs (African) category. Their standout performances impressed the adjudicators and captivated the audience, reinforcing Mpumalanga’s strong presence in the national choral music scene.

Another Mpumalanga institution, Estralita Special School, also left its mark by finishing third in the Special Schools (SID) category.
