Coach found guilty of sexual assault to be sentenced in eMalahleni Court today

The soccer coach was found guilty of two counts of molestation involving minor boys and acquitted of one.

Soccer coach Sibusiso Gama is set to appear in the eMalahleni Regional Court today for sentencing, following his conviction on two counts of molesting teenage boys during soccer camps.

Gama faced three charges, originating from incidents reported two years ago.

During his court appearance on June 24, he was acquitted of one charge related to an incident in September 2023.

However, the court found him guilty of the other two cases, which took place in mid-May of the same year.

According to testimonies, Gama targeted boys who were sleeping near him during overnight camps.

Parents of the victims are anxiously awaiting the outcome.

“I’m glad the case is finally ending, but I’m terrified they might give him a lighter sentence,” said one of the mothers. “I’m scared for my son. What if he has to face that man again?”
