Road spikes spotted between Tasbet Park and Duvha Park

Spikes were discovered on the road between Tasbet Park and Duvha Park in eMalahleni.

A motorist who was driving from eMalahleni to Ga-Nala in the early hours of this morning, discovered the spikes around 04:00, and he didn’t stop immediately.

“I saw the spikes and passed at first. I then decided to make a U-turn and go back just to make sure. The spikes were there, and there was no sign of a person around the area,” Clifford Maredi, who reported the spikes, said.

The Witbank Police spokesperson, Sergeant David Ratau is pleading with motorists to exercise extra caution in all areas of the city, not only the reported areas.

“We are aware that criminals are still continuing with the spiking activities. So, motorists should protect themselves at all costs,” Ratau said.

“In cases where your vehicle is spiked, do not stop immediately, and try to drive away. Protect your life more than anything,” Ratau added.
