Coach convicted of sexual assault back in court for sentencing
The soccer coach was found guilty of two counts of molestation involving minor boys and acquitted of one.
Soccer coach Sibusiso Gama is set to appear in the eMalahleni Regional Court today for sentencing, following his conviction on two counts of molesting teenage boys during soccer camps.
This comes after his court appearance on July 15, where his sentencing was postponed due to the absence of the prosecutor representing the case. The prosecutor was reportedly on sick leave.
Gama faced three charges, originating from incidents reported two years ago.
During his court appearance on June 24, he was acquitted of one charge related to an incident in September 2023.
However, the court found him guilty in the other two cases, which occurred in mid-May of the same year.
According to testimonies, Gama targeted boys who were sleeping near him during overnight camps.
Parents of the victims continue to wait anxiously for the outcome.
