Man robbed of phone and cash at a local farm
The public is urged to always be vigilant when going to isolated areas.
A man’s trip to a farm ended in a robbery drama that cost him thousands.
According to the police, a man alleged that on July 18 around 15:30, he was with an acquaintance at a local farm to inquire about farming matters. Suddenly, he reportedly saw three men at a distance, but didn’t pay much attention to it. As he approached, they started coming toward him, with one allegedly pulling out a firearm and assaulting him.
The man told the police that the gunman took his phone and demanded his banking PIN so he could make transactions.
The investigations on the case are still underway, with Captain Eddie Hall, spokesperson for the Witbank SAPS, urging the public to be extra vigilant when going to isolated areas.
“Always be observant and trust your instinct. If you sense danger, alert the police as soon as you can to get help,” he said.
