2 women burned by man in Kwa-Guqa die

Nompumelelo Gumede passed on earlier today, and Antoinette Hill succumbed to her wounds on August 1 after a brave fight in Witbank Hospital.

The two women who suffered severe burns after being burned by a man in Kwa-Guqa have passed on.

Nompumelelo Gumede died this morning, and  Antoinette Hill, died on August 1.

It is believed that Hill is the perpetrator’s sister.

Gumede and Hill were rushed to hospital a week ago after they were doused with petrol, set alight, and locked in the room to burn.

According to the police, Hill tried to help Gumede after she had a fight with the suspect.

The suspect apparently sat in the next room while they were burning.

The man was arrested shortly afterwards.

“We stand in solidarity with the families, friends, and community members affected by this horrific incident,” Vinolia Mashiane from Kwanele Mama Foundation said.

She urges everyone to come together to support one another and work towards creating a safer and more compassionate society.
