3 die in N12 carnage close to eMalahleni s-bends

The accident scene is nearly cleared up. The road is partially open.

Three people died in the horrific accident on the N12 this morning.

The multiple vehicle accident that led to the fatalities involved about 20 vehicles.

The vehicles involved include two light delivery vehicles, six trucks, and 12 light motor vehicles.

As a result of the collisions, the road was closed for several hours and was only reopened recently.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie urged motorists to exercise great caution when driving in misty weather conditions, mostly prevalent in the Nkangala and Gert Sibande districts, during this time of the year, and sometimes in summer, especially after the rain.

“While the weather is unpredictable, we are further calling on companies and individual drivers to always check weather forecasts before travelling. They should not ignore warnings of adverse weather conditions in the media, especially when they are travelling,” the MEC added.
