CIT robbers still at large

Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

SAPS is still following up on leads after the recent CIT heist.

The heist on the R555 on August 11 saw a gang of robbers executing a meticulously planned heist by crashing into a Fidelity cash van. The impact caused the cash van to overturn.

Before the dust settled, the perpetrators were inside the van, prompting the occupants to ‘sleep on the grass’.

The usual early morning traffic on the road was disrupted when the gang opened fire, keeping the commuters away from the scene.

They bombed the cash van twice and fled.

The perpetrators got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The security guards were unharmed.

WITBANK NEWS reported on the incident and posted live videos from the scene.

One of the readers took a video of the heist as it happened and shared it with the newsroom.
