Household data collection to commence soon in eMalahleni
Residents are asked to cooperate with authorised personnel from the municipality during the data collection processes.
The Emalahleni Local Municipality (ELM) has recently announced a community survey that it will conduct to collect household data as part of its revenue enhancement strategy.
According to the municipality, the survey will ensure that they capture accurate and current information to facilitate proper planning and allocation of resources, thereby improving service delivery and supporting ongoing municipal initiatives.
“The project will be for a period of six months and has created 102 temporary employment,” the ELM communications unit said.
Through the project, the municipality will be able to:
- Identify residents who qualify as indigents.
- Identify non-compliant second dwelling homes.
- Identify households that require meter replacement.
- Ensure that all residents pay for services provided.
- Ensure that rate payers receive value for money.
- Establish trust between the municipality and the community.
The municipality encourages eMalahleni residents to support and cooperate with the authorised personnel from the municipality during the data collection processes.
They also emphasised the need for residents to verify the workers’ identity through the identification cards and relevant documentation they will present them with.
