Woman’s relaxing sleep at a friend’s place turns into abduction ordeal
The police urge people who do sleepovers to always pay attention to their surroundings for their safety.
A lady’s soothing sleep at her friend’s place landed her in a backroom at some location where she had to wrestle hard for an escape.
According to the police, a woman alleged that in the morning of August 30, she was sleeping at her friend’s place with the door unlocked, when her friend’s relative came in and yanked her from the bed to a vehicle outside, threatening to shoot her if she screamed.
She reported that the man drove with her to some location where he locked her inside a backroom. Fortunately, when the lady saw a hammer, she made use of it and fought her way out of the room and ran asking for help.
That was when she was assisted by a couple who took her to their house and called the police.
Investigations on the case are still ongoing as the police seek to reach to the bottom of it.
To stay safe at a sleepover, Captain Eddie Hall of the Witbank SAPS says you should always make sure you know and trust all the members of the household.
“Stay aware of what is happening around you and be prepared to take action if you sense any danger. Importantly, if something feels wrong, trust your gut feeling and act,” he said.
