Power out in eMalahleni after substation vandalism

The affected areas include Del Judor Extension 1 and Emalahleni Extensions 8, 16, and 41.

Parts of Emalahleni woke up to an unexpected blackout this morning after vandals struck the Malherbe Substation.

Municipal officials confirmed that the outage was caused by deliberate damage to the substation, and technicians are working around the clock to fix the problem.

An inquiry regarding what’s next on the officials’ side was sent to the Emalahleni Local Municipality’s spokesperson, Lebo Mofokeng, who hasn’t responded.

This is a developing story.
