Police confirm gunshot wound in Lynnville woman’s death
The woman’s failure to fetch her child from a local crèche on the day led to the discovery of her lifeless body in a nearby rental room.
Vosman Police is investigating a case of murder after a woman was found dead at her home in Lynnville on Tuesday.
The woman was identified as a 33-year-old Mozambican national through her passport, which was found in the room.
According to Vosman Police spokesperson Captain Vusi Mnisi, the woman managed to take her child, a six-year-old, to the crèche in the morning, but she didn’t show up to fetch the child, leading to the return of the child by the crèche’s representative, believed to be the grandchild of the crèche owner. When they arrived with the child, they found the mother’s lifeless body on the floor and reported the issue to the landlady, who alleged that she didn’t hear or see anything.
“The woman’s body had two visible wounds on her chest that police believed were stab wounds, but a preliminary investigation later revealed she had died from a gunshot wound,” said Mnisi.
No suspects have been identified at this stage, and investigators are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in solving the case. Anyone with information that can help with the investigation is encouraged to contact Mnisi at 082 923 1180.
