You don’t need a license, you need a scrubbing brush before you wee-wee

The toilet facilities of the license offices are so messy that no one dares to use them.

Photos of filthy toilets at the Emalahleni licensing office surfaced recently.

A concerned member of the public sent the photos after visiting the office and said people who have to wait in long queues for hours to renew their driver’s or vehicle licenses are forced to use unsanitary facilities, which pose a serious health risk.

WITBANK NEWS visited the licensing office, but was refused permission to take photos or videos of the toilets.

From a long queue, a resident said, “The toilets are broken and unusable; they’re always dirty, and nobody is considering fixing the problem.”

Another resident added that when the license office was still operating under the municipality, service delivery was terrible, but the toilets were at least clean.

Dirty and broken toilets are unusable at the license office.

An employee, who risk losing his job, asked to stay anonymous and said, “General workers are responsible for cleaning the toilets and the facilities, but many of these workers have been unproductive for a long time because they have no cleaning products or tools to do their work.”

The wash basin is broken and unusable at the license office.

WITBANK NEWS reached out to the Mpumalanga Department of Transport, but has yet to get feedback.
