Warning – bakkie spiked on N4

It is understood that the driver is safe. There is not a lot of information available about the incident.

Motorists are advised to exercise extra caution when traveling on the N4.

This follows a reported incident of spiking this evening.

The victim, driving a GD6 bakkie, drove over the spikes on the road at the Highveld/Kromdraai turnoff.

A family member confirmed the horrifying ordeal.

All the details are still vague.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the Highveld/Kromdraai turn-off this evening to come forward immediately.

In the meantime, drivers are advised to slow down in areas prone to spiking, never stop immediately if a tyre is punctured — especially in a secluded area—but rather attempt to drive to the nearest well-lit, populated location or police station if possible.
